• WHEN DO CLASSES START?

  UOnline offers fall, spring, and summer semesters, which allows you to start your academic journey when it is convenient for you. Each class is seven weeks long, and you take one class at a time. View UOnline’s academic calendar for more detailed information.

• HOW MUCH IS TUITION?

  UOnline provides service members with financial assistance that can help reduce the cost of tuition, in addition to other military benefits, such as the Yellow Ribbon Program. Tuition costs vary by program.

• ARE THERE SET CLASS SCHEDULES OR CAN I WORK AT MY OWN PACE?

  At UOnline, you can access materials and assignments over the seven weeks and complete your work when it fits your schedule.

  The online learning environment is also mobile-optimized, which allows you to maximize your time and do work from whatever device provides internet access.

• WHAT HAPPENS IF I’M DEPLOYED?

  Administrators and faculty at the University of Miami are eager to work with military students and help them complete their educational goals from wherever they are stationed. Students should contact a Military Enrollment Advisor for guidance.

• HOW DO I CONTACT THE VETERAN’S AFFAIRS OFFICE AND WHERE IS IT LOCATED?

  The University of Miami maintains a Veterans’ Affairs (V.A.) Office in the:

  The Veterans Affairs Certifying Officials are located in the Office of the Registrar to assist veterans and dependents of veterans who are entitled to V.A. educational benefits.

  Our dedicated military enrollment advisors are trained to support you every step of the way through your enrollment at UOnline. From enrollment and financial aid to course selection, through graduation and career services, they will be with you every step of the way.

  The University of Miami maintains a Veterans Affairs Office to assist active duty military, veterans, and their dependents who are entitled to VA educational benefits. Contact a Military Enrollment Advisor to direct you to the proper resource.

  The South Florida Career Centers Consortium hosts the Virtual Veterans Career Fair. This fair is an opportunity to recruit student and alumni veterans from South Florida that are from various universities and colleges, including the University of Miami.

• WHAT CAREER RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE TO ME?

  The University of Miami’s Toppel Career Center is available to all students. It provides many resources and services that we can assist veterans with transitioning and articulating military experience and skills into transferrable skills for full-time opportunities.

  The Launch Pad at the University of Miami is a co-curricular university-wide entrepreneurship resource and program. It aims to make the practice of entrepreneurship available to all students and alumni in the University and to enable and encourage them to start their ventures in the University’s region.

Yellow Ribbon Program

UOnline participates in the Yellow Ribbon Scholarship Program, which awards veterans-only scholarships that the VA will match up to eligible students. The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post-9/11 GI Bill that allows veterans to attend private schools and graduate programs costing more than the state tuition cap. Please note the scholarship cannot be applied to classes during the summer sessions.

Veterans Affairs Office The University of Miami maintains a Veterans Affairs Office to assist active duty military, veterans, and their dependents who are entitled to VA educational benefits. The Veterans Affairs Office connects student veterans with the resources they need to transition from combat to the classroom successfully.

Virtual Veterans Career Fair

The South Florida Career Centers Consortium hosts the Virtual Veterans Career Fair. This fair is an opportunity to recruit student and alumni veterans from South Florida from various universities and colleges, including the University of Miami.

Veteran Student Services

Veteran Student Services serves as a centralized campus resource center that provides support to the veteran student population for their successful transition from military service to campus life and beyond. The Veteran Student Organization works to support military veterans at the University of Miami and share information on academic success, financial stability, educational benefits, and the Veterans Administration policies and procedures to educate the UM community on veteran issues.

The Miami VA Healthcare System serves Veterans in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties, providing general medical, surgical, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services to an estimated veteran population of 175,000.
